1. Translation is not cool

Whether you are writing or speaking in English, both methods require your attention. However, it doesn’t reciprocate that you have to translate each sentence. Many students make the mistake of translating each sentence in English while speaking, which restricts their fluency.

So, don’t busy your mind with translating instead of thinking. Train your mind to think in English without any translation and focus on what you are going to say!

2. Keep the knowledge of fundamentals of English

How do you think of making a building if you have no foundation? The same rule applies to learning English. Without having a good foundation of the English language, you can’t bring fluency to your speaking skills. This statement encourages you to know about the basics of English such as articles, nouns, pronouns, adjectives, tenses, and more.

Knowledge of basics makes you an expert if you use them precisely. You can progress gradually when you know the starting point. Besides, for assistance in the writing part, you can choose to opt for custom writing services.

3. Focus on how to you sound while speaking English

Your mind always knows what you are going to improve. If you know what to upgrade, you will get ideas on how to do it. Therefore, you should know the sound of your English. Record your voice and listen to it to know the actual level of your speaking.

You should notice the vibration of your voice, pronunciation of words, sentence making, use of English, and knowledge of its fundamentals. Understand your condition and plan your strategy accordingly.

4. Listen to others for fluency

Listening to others is the only way you can get real examples for improvement in your communication skills. In such cases, listen to radio channels, motivational speakers, and interviews. It acts as an exercise to note down how to speak and pronounce some particular words in which tone.

Take a pen or pencil and make some notes to work on your English speaking. Ensure to listen to people as much as possible. Choose good podcasts, TED Talks, movies, etc with reading the subtitles as well.

5. Avoid Long vocabulary lists

I tried to memorize long lists of vocabulary to make my writing as well as speaking of English more compelling. But, it didn’t work. In speaking, you need to focus on sentence making rather than memorizing words. Start from simple words and progress to a higher stage in your speaking step by step.

Despite a long list of vocabulary, I started to read at least one new word daily and also use it thoroughly. So, don’t get obsessed with preparing a long list of vocabulary. Be flexible in bringing changes to your writing styles.

6. Share your pronunciation with friends

Fear of asking or sharing your queries with others, especially about your English speaking requires guts. We always try to escape the moment and don’t like to share the actual condition. This is because we don’t want someone to make fun of us. But, not sharing your views with others will not help. So, open up with your friends.

Try to talk with your friends in English and let them know your sound of words. Their suggestions and corrections may not hurt your sentiments and degrade your performance. So, choose your partner wisely.

7. A bilingual dictionary is not a good option

Don’t use a bilingual dictionary for writing, it’s not the best way to improve your communication skills. Sometimes, the same word doesn’t reflect the same minute when translated into English. It also restricts your mind to think in English.

Preferring to use Cambridge Online Learners Dictionary is an ideal option. Moreover, you can take help from the audio of British and American pronunciation and the use of different words.

8. Do exercise to keep yourself in a flow

Remember to practice, ask people for feedback and keep practicing English. Listening to others is the only way you can get real examples for improvement in your communication skills. Don’t forget about pronunciation, the tone for better speaking skills, communicating with people to get feedback, practice, and basics of English if you want to see improvements.

So, make sure to do some exercises to keep yourself in the rhythm of speaking English. Likewise, how to sound vowels and pronunciation of special words.

9. Start with two to three sentences in fluency

Do not try to jump to speak long paragraphs when you aren’t at a good level of English. Make sure to only focus on short ones until your communication skills improve. This is because it’s much easier to speak fluently when using short chunks rather than long paragraphs.

Start with two or three lines and expand on them as you become more confident in your English skills. Since it’s an early stage of practicing this language so don’t worry about it too much when you’re just starting out

10. Don’t try to be perfect

Don’t try to be perfect when starting out with writing in English, it will make things more complicated than they need to be. The best thing to do is to be keen to learn and step up from the last stage. Many people are obsessed with speaking fluent English.

Here, one thing is to keep in mind that English is one of the languages to communicate with others. If you can convey your message in English with not 100% fluency, you are doing a great job.  Therefore, focus on the learning part instead of becoming perfect.
